Belarus' harvest reaches 9m tonnes of grain

Belarus has harvested 9 million tonnes of grain taking into account rapeseed, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

“Belarusian agricultural workers have threshed 9,011 million tonnes of grain including rapeseed. This is 1.5 million up from the same period last year. The average yield across the country is also higher than the previous year's figures,” head of the crop farming department of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Nikolai Leshik said.

Rapeseed was cut from 342,000 hectares of land (95.4% of the designated area), with 873,000 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 25.5 centners per hectare). Excluding this crop Belarusian agricultural workers threshed a total of 8.138 million tonnes of grain.

Grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) were harvested from 98.7% of the planned area (2.140 million hectares). According to the update information, harvesting was completed on 99.1% of the target (353,500 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 97.8% (345,700 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 99.5% (347,200 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 98.6% (307,900 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 98.7% (453,000 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 98.7% (333,500 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Agricultural workers harvested millet from 6,520 hectares, or 55.9% of the target, threshing 16,000 tonnes with the average yield at 24.5 centners per hectare. Buckwheat was cropped from 15,400 hectares (44.5%) with 20,800 tonnes threshed (the average yield - 13.5 centners per hectare). Belarusian farmers threshed 68.500 tonnes of spring rapeseed.

Grodno Oblast and Minsk Oblast kicked off sugar beet harvest.

The procurement plan for 2022 will make up 811,400 tonnes of grain.
