Companies affiliated with the Industry Ministry of Belarus are set to increase the average salary by 9-10% in 2021, Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“By the end of 2020, the output increased, enterprises began to operate more steadily, and this had an immediate positive impact on salaries. The average salary at enterprises of the Industry Ministry in 2020 was Br1,186, while in November-December it stood at Br1,260. In general, salaries grew by 6% year-on-year. We plan to increase output by 5-6% in 2021. Accordingly, salaries are expected to grow by 9-10% up to Br1,350-1,400. I believe this is a good salary and this salary is achievable,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.

The minister also noted that 2020 was a difficult year for industrial enterprises. “Nevertheless, most of the enterprises of the Industry Ministry reported growth, fulfilled their business plans. These are MTZ, Gomselmash, MAZ, Atlant, Vityaz, and Amkodor. 100% of the products they manufactured were sold. The fact that we kept working amidst the pandemic observing certain rules allowed us to reach record production and sales of household appliances,” he said.

According to him, it was a challenging year for BELAZ, BMZ, BelOMO, Integral, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant. “These enterprises lagged behind. To some extent, this is due to the pandemic, to the declining global market,” Piotr Parkhomchik added.
