Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to visit the Stolbtsy Central District Hospital on 8 December, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will get familiar with medical aid to coronavirus patients at the district level.

The Stolbtsy Central District Hospital is designed for 339 patients. The hospital employs 803 specialists, including 130 physicians and 327 nursing staff.

Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told the media that treatment of coronavirus patients in district hospitals is carried out according to the same standards as in the capital or regional centers. Severe patients are transferred to higher level healthcare facilities if necessary.

According to the minister, there are many more coronavirus patients in the district hospital than there were during the first wave. However, the hospital is able to continue providing routine care.

“We will use this example to see how assistance in regions is organized at the level of small district centers,” Dmitry Pinevich added.

As BelTA reported, on 4 December Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the Vitebsk Oblast Clinical Maternity Hospital. In late November, the president visited the 6th City Clinical Hospital in Minsk.
